Chaplaincy Services at Lakeview Hospital

For Patients and Visitors A professionally trained chaplain is available to:
- give spiritual/emotional support and care to Lakeview Hospital patients, as well as their families and significant others
- serve people from all spiritual traditions
- provide respectful recognition of all cultural and spiritual beliefs and traditions
- assist in contacting your own spiritual leader or faith community
- offer consultation and support regarding end of life, and other ethical concerns, via the Community Ethics Committee
- provide Christian sacraments (Baptism and Holy Communion) as well as Annointing with Oil
- provide spiritual and emotional emergency crisis support, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
For Lakeview Staff As an integral member of the patient care team, chaplaincy:
- participates with clinical staff in interdisciplinary patient care rounds
- offers consultation and support to staff involved in ethical or other difficult decisions
- provides special worship events, such as memorial services, as needed
- facilitates the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) protocol during and following a traumatic event
- offers short-term spiritual and emotional care and support to staff.
For Everyone Lakeview Hospital's chapel is located on the first floor. The chapel is a place of worship, prayer and meditation for people of all spiritual traditions and faith communities. We have provided resources for people of many different spiritual traditions; everyone is welcome here. It is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The chapel may also be used as a place for families to gather for consultation and decision-making.
The Chaplaincy department also provides several support groups that are open to everyone (click on the program title to download a PDF brochure):
Weathering Life's Losses is an adult grief support group that meets every Thursday evening from 6:00 - 7:15 PM at Stillwater Medical Group Women's Center (on the Lakeview Hospital campus). This program is free and does not require registration. New members welcome at any time.
Kids & Teens in Grief is a six-week grief support program for children between the ages of 5 and 17. It meets on Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 7:15 PM at Boutwells Landing (5600 Norwich Pkwy, Oak Park Heights). This program is offered three times during the year. It is free, but registration is required.
Breast Cancer Support is a program for patients and survivors of breast cancer. It is offered twice a month - second Wednesday of each month from 7:00 - 8:30 PM, and fourth Wednesday of each month from 3:30 - 5:00 PM at Stillwater Medical Group Women's Center (on the Lakeview Hospital campus). This program is free and does not require registration. New members welcome at any time.
The Chaplaincy department regularly trains volunteer grief facilitators for the Weathering Life's Losses and Kids and Teens in Grief support groups. To learn more about this volunteer opportunity call (651) 430-4586.
Chaplaincy Services at Lakeview Hospital and Lakeview Homecare/Hospice are provided by the St. Croix Chaplaincy Association, a cooperative ministry supported by the participating churches of the St. Croix Valley and Lakeview Hospital.
