Lakeview Hospital Visitor's Guide

Welcome to Lakeview Hospital! Should you have any questions or need assistance of any kind during your stay with us, please don’t hesitate to ask our staff and volunteers. We will do everything we can to make your visit as pleasant as possible.

Art Gallery
Visit our Art Gallery, located near the first floor reception desk, across from the Heart Center. Artwork represents the talents of local and regional artists, and rotates monthly. Some of the art is for sale through the Fractured Frog Gift Shop. Twenty percent of the proceeds are used to purchase permanent art for the hospital.

Balloons
Due to latex sensitivities, latex balloons are not allowed in the hospital. Mylar balloons are acceptable and may be purchased in the gift shop.

Billing Questions
If you have any questions about insurance or hospital charges, please stop by our business office cashiers’ desk located on the third floor of the gold wing, or call (651) 430-4538. We will gladly provide assistance and clarification.

Cash Machine
An ATM machine is located in the first floor lobby area.

Chapel
Located on the first floor, our chapel is open 24 hours a day for quiet meditation and prayer. Resources are available for people of many different spiritual traditions; everyone is welcome here. If you would like to visit with the hospital chaplain, please call (651) 430-4586. Our chaplain is an ordained Christian pastor, but serves people from all spiritual traditions.

Food Services
Visitors are welcome to dine in our Courtyard Café throughout the day. The cafeteria is located on the ground floor. Dining hours are:

    Monday through Friday
    Breakfast 7:30 – 10 am
    Lunch   11 am – 1:30 pm
    Dinner  5 pm – 6:30 pm
    Saturday and Sunday
    Lunch 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
    Dinner 5 pm - 6:15 pm

Between meals, light snacks (including bagels, yogurt, sandwiches and more) and beverages (such as flavored coffee and sodas) are available in the Courtyard Café.

  • Complimentary coffee is available throughout the day in the ground floor lobby area.
  • The Java Coast Coffee Cart features fresh pastries, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The coffee cart is located in the first floor lobby area.
  • Vending machines are located outside the Courtyard Café and in the ground floor lobby area. Candy and snacks may be also be purchased in the first floor gift shop.
  • Family members or friends wishing to dine with patients may order a guest tray for a nominal fee. Please notify the nursing staff two hours prior to meal time.

General Information
Lakeview staffs two informational desks, located near the first and ground floor entrances. If you have any questions or need directions, please stop by and ask for help.

Fractured Frog Gift Shop
Hours (may vary):
Monday through Friday
9 am – 8 pm
Saturday and Sunday
10 am – 1 pm
Browse through the Fractured Frog Gift Shop, located on the first floor near the main entrance. Unique, tasteful gifts, apparel and home accessories are just a few of the items you will find.

Newspapers
Newspaper receptacles featuring the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the St. Paul Pioneer Press and the Stillwater Gazette are located near the main entrance. Several copies of newspapers are also delivered daily to the lobbies and patient care areas.

Pagers
Pagers are available to waiting family members. Please stop at the surgery waiting desk on the ground floor.

Parking
Emergency and short-term outpatient parking is available near the emergency entrance of the hospital. All parking is free and convenient. Click here to view a parking map.

Patient Representative
If you would like to talk with someone about the care you or your loved one is receiving at Lakeview, we encourage you to contact our Patient Representative at (651) 430-8535 or dial 8535 internally. She will meet with you to discuss your concerns or suggestions.

Lakeview Outpatient Pharmacy
Hours:
Monday through Friday
9 am – 6 pm
For your convenience, our retail pharmacy offers prescription and over the counter medications. We are located inside the hospital on the first floor. Call (651) 430-4563 for more information.

Smoking Policy
Lakeview Hospital is a tobacco-free/smoke-free campus. This means smoking and the use of tobacco product by employees, patients or visitors are prohibited in the building and on the Hospital grounds. Resources are available for patients who smoke or use tobacco products.

Telephones
Complimentary telephones are available for visitor use near the ground and first floor information desks. To access an operator for long distance calls, please dial 9-0.

Cell phones may be used within the hospital with the exception of the emergency department, MICU, same day surgery and post anesthesia areas. Two-way radio use is prohibited within the facility.

Televisions
Televisions, located in all patient rooms and lobby areas, feature satellite programming.

Visiting Hours
General Visiting
9 am – 8 pm daily

Birth Center Visiting
No visitors during nap time, 2 pm – 4 pm daily
Fathers, siblings and grandparents of the baby are welcome anytime

MICU Visiting
Visits in the medical intensive care unit (MICU) by immediate family members and significant others are welcome at anytime. Other visitors are allowed at the discretion of the nursing staff. Please consult the station nurses regarding the length of your visit. Flowers are not recommended for patients in the MICU.

Exceptions to the visiting policy and the number of visitors allowed will be determined by your physician and the nursing staff.

Visitors with known communicable diseases are not allowed at anytime.

Volunteer Opportunities
Our active volunteer program offers many opportunities for interested individuals. Contact our volunteer coordinator at (651) 430-8522 for specific information and application forms.

Waiting Areas
Lakeview provides comfortable, convenient waiting areas for family and friends. The main waiting area, including surgery waiting, is located on the ground floor near the emergency entrance. Reading materials, television and a children’s play area may be found in this area. Additional waiting areas are located in the first floor main corridor, and the Women’s Center on the second floor. Family waiting rooms are located in the MICU and near the first floor inpatient areas. Please do not leave children unattended in any of the waiting areas.

Visitors waiting for patients in surgery should register with the volunteer at the surgery waiting desk on the ground floor. It is important to notify the volunteer when you plan to leave the area. By doing so, we can locate you promptly when the surgeon is ready to visit with you.

Wireless Internet
Lakeview Hospital offers wireless Internet service for its patients. Patients throughout the hospital can utilize guest access to the Internet using their own laptops that are equipped with a wireless card.

Patients in the medical intensive care unit (MICU) can also access the Internet on their personal laptops using the green jacks in the rooms. The MICU family room has one computer device that is available for patient family use.
