Forty-eight kindergarteners from St. Croix Catholic School visited Lakeview Hospital’s Teddy Bear Clinic on May 23. The Teddy Bear Clinic provides children an opportunity to visit the hospital to become more comfortable with its surroundings, in case they would ever need to be a patient. Children learn that the hospital is a friendly place where people are available to help when medical attention is needed. Close to 900 children from 13 community schools toured Lakeview Hospital during this past school year. Children were encouraged to bring along their favorite stuffed animal for “doctoring.”
This program could not happen without the support of Lakeview’s Teddy Bear Clinic volunteers. For more information about Lakeview’s Teddy Bear Clinic, please contact Kim Klisch, coordinator of volunteers, at 651-430-8522 (or e-mail kklisch@lakeview.org).
