Lakeview Hospital was named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® by Thomson Reuters, a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of healthcare.
The award recognizes hospitals that have achieved excellence in clinical outcomes, patient safety, patient satisfaction, financial performance, and operational efficiency. This is the 4th time Lakeview Hospital has been recognized with this honor. Other hospitals recognized in Minnesota include Mayo Clinic – Rochester Methodist Hospital, St. Cloud Hospital – St. Cloud, Mayo Clinic – Saint Mary’s Hospital, and St. Mary’s Hospital – Duluth.
“We are honored to be ranked among the best hospitals in the nation and to be the only 100 Top Hospital in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area,” said Curt Geissler, President, Lakeview Hospital. “The compassion and commitment of our physicians and staff directly resulted in this honor. It is gratifying to have our efforts objectively acknowledged within the healthcare industry. This award also acknowledges the organizational achievements we’ve made by aligning our board, management team, employees, and medical staff in a concerted effort to achieve balanced excellence: providing highly reliable, efficient health care services, and great value to patients, local employers, payers and the entire community.”
Lakeview Hospital, a member of Lakeview Health System, provides care for the communities in the East Metro area and western Wisconsin. As the second oldest hospital in Minnesota, Lakeview understands the need to evolve in order to provide the highest possible level of healthcare. Over the past few years they have progressed into one of Minnesota's finest hospitals, assuming a leadership role in patient satisfaction and procedural advancements. Lakeview Hospital has also been recognized in the top 5% in the nation and #1 in Minnesota for overall orthopedic care, joint surgery, and spine surgery. Lakeview’s leadership in patient satisfaction is also recognized in independent surveys through HealthPartners and Medicare data.
Research showed:
The 100 Top Hospitals have higher survival rates, keep more patients complication-free, and attract more patients – all while maintaining cost-efficiencies. Thomson Reuters found that if all Medicare inpatients received the same level of care as that provided by the 100 Top Hospitals winners across all categories:
- More than 107,500 additional patients would survive each year.
- Nearly 132,000 patient complications would be avoided annually.
- Expenses would decline by an aggregate $5.9 billion a year.
- The average patient stay would decrease by nearly half a day.
The winners were identified through an in-depth analysis, the Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals®: National Benchmarks study. The study evaluated 3,000 short-term, acute care, non-federal hospitals in nine areas: mortality, medical complications, patient safety, average length of stay, expenses, profitability, cash-to-debt ratio, patient satisfaction, and adherence to clinical standards of care.
